Window Cleaning Checklist For A Great Looking Business
|July 30, 2021
Windows are taken for granted, or least that’s what we believe. When it comes to your business, whether your workplace is an office, warehouse, both, or another type of facility, your windows play a larger role in the success of your enterprise than you may think! In doubt? Bear with us through this article and you may change your mind.
There are several reasons that quality window maintenance is important, and these reasons start and end with the purpose of a window. Windows are solid openings in a door, wall, or roof that allow light to pass through, and if light can pass through this also means we can see through. For a window to allow us to see through and let light in, it needs to be clean. Here’s a window cleaning checklist for a great looking business:
What You’ll Need
A quality window cleaning checklist is useless without the right window cleaning supplies. Luckily, you won’t need much. Make sure to have the following supplies:
- Vacuum
- Bucket
- Soap & Water
- Microfiber Cloths
- Soft-Bristled Brush
- Sponge
- Residue-Free Glass Cleaner
Dusting
The first step in window cleaning – of course, that’s if you want your business to look great – is dusting. Skipping this step in your checklist may complicate or worsen, and even damage, your windows’ cleanliness. Inside, you can use a duster to do the job. Outside, however, you may need an industrial vacuum as there will be more dust, dirt, debris and other contaminants.
Interior Surface Cleaning
After dusting, your indoor window cleaning checklist should look like this:
- Using a soft sponge, scrub dirt and stains with warm water and soap, rinse, and dry
- Apply residue-free glass cleaner, wipe or squeegee clean, and dry
For extra-clean and clear windows, feel free to finish by buffering!
Exterior Surface Cleaning
The exterior window cleaning checklist is much the same, but with a modification to the first step:
- Vacuum the surface of the windows, the window sills and frames
- Scrub the windows using a soft sponge with warm water and soap, rinse, and dry
- Apply residue-free glass cleaner, and wipe or squeegee clean, and dry
The exterior surface of your windows – call them outdoor windows – may require a little to a lot more time than your indoor windows. They’re generally going to be more soiled and thus will require more effort!
Pay Attention to Feedback
Let’s keep this short and simple. For your employees, a gloomy culture, declining morale, and less productivity could be a sign that employees aren’t being exposed to enough natural light. You may not notice your windows’ condition, but if your business experiences any of the above, your windows could need to be cleaned to enable the maximum amount of sunlight to shine in. As far as your customers and clients, static or declining revenue due to a dirty, unkempt impression could very well be due to dirty windows. Pay attention!
